Welcome to the world of retro where everything old is new again. Endeverafter have more musical influences on their debut record "Kiss Or Kill" than you can count, including Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Poison, etc. and it sometimes gets in the way. First off though, this is a good hard rock record that most closely resembles something out of the late 1980's and the best comparison I could think of is Skid Row. The songs are fairly strong but predictable and too often I couldn't help but feel like I've heard this record before. The opening track "I Wanna Be Your Man" is a big, loud arena rocker but it gets stepped on somewhat by the lyrics and one particular line "You better pray not to see another day the way I'm gonna punish your ass" wins the award for worst lyric on the record. Tracks 2-4 are more of the same with big riffs, loud guitars, and cliche' lyrics and in my opinion, the record doesn't really get started until, and takes a sharp turn for the better, with track five "Next Big Thing" which is the slower, melodic rocker of the record . It's almost like the music jumps forward 20 years and you can hear a comfort level with the band that is missing in the previous songs. The tracks that follow including "Tip of My Tongue" and " All Night" sound like they fit the band so much better and track nine "Slave" is one of the stand out tracks of the record. The closer "Long Way Home" is a really good slow, acoustic song bordering on an Americana style of music but, again, the band sounds comfortable with it like they're in their own skin.

I think it is probably a safe bet that these guys put on a great, fun live show and, for my money, I would rather listen to this than much of the stuff that is in rotation on modern rock radio stations. This record has energy, it's fun, loud and has some really exceptional guitar work, albeit a bit overdone at times. I just hope these lads don't go the way of bands like The Darkness, whom they sound like at times, and fall into the musical void of no return.
